This blog is dedicated to every little child who ever ran around in the back yard with a shiny, gray plastic Spitfire in one hand and a Messerschmidt in the other. I'd urge you to imagine them with the wings stuck on backwards.
My purpose is to explore and comment upon a range of aircraft kits from this manufacturer covering this periood which gave me so much pleasure as a young boy.

My first spitfire was coloured in dark green and yellow camoflage. These being the colours in the six mini tubes of airfix paint that came with it.
ReplyDeleteI had not mastered soaking off the decals so it had a maple leaf cut out with the backing card attached and glued beneath the pilots cockpit.
I am looking forward to reading more of your blog in 2010.

PS who remembers Airfix paints in those little square glass bottles?
Or the flying bases they no longer seem to do with the "U-shaped" base?
